Dear OCMA Members and Friends:
“In the middle of
difficulty lies Opportunity”
-- Albert Einstein
Although I am
certain that Albert was not thinking of the
Newspaper Industry in general when he uttered the
words above, I find great evidence that my fellow
Circulators are valued experts at applying the
principal.
2010 is proving
that we are not only up to the challenge, but
significant success stories are unfolding throughout
America, especially within our membership in Ohio.
Since 1917 the
OCMA has provided a continuous common platform, rich
in tradition, through networking, education, and
friendship for Circulation professionals in Ohio.
Each year the
OCMA Fall Conference provides an enriching event
that is focused over a fast-paced day and a half
agenda that facilitates the needs of our members.
The Fall Conference is the perfect opportunity
for Circulation executives and vendors to share the
given challenges and offer proven, successful
initiatives, technology, and strategies to move your
operation forward.
This year the
OCMA Fall conference will be held October 3rd and
4th and will be hosted by the Akron Beacon Journal
at the Sheraton Suites Hotel in Cuyahoga Falls,
Ohio. Set alongside the scenic and historic falls of
the Cuyahoga River, this award-winning hotel is the
area’s best venue and will provide an excellent
facility for professional and social interaction by
all who attend.
“Rev It Up”
is the mantra for this year’s event and exciting,
informative speakers will illustrate the importance
of the added emphasis that revenue-generating
initiatives within our Circulation departments has
come to bear. This is one agenda that WILL
pay for your attendance and beyond through idea
sharing and educational effort brought forth.
Your elected
Board of Directors works throughout the year to fine
tune and develop a positive, enriching program for
everyone’s benefit at the Conference. Prestigious
recognition including the President’s Award,
Promotional Display Awards, and the Glenn L. Cox
Carrier of the Year Awards are presented to
illuminate superior achievement.
Proud, firm
representation of the OCMA by all Board members is
something that all of our membership can feel good
about. Yet, there is a need to grow our “bench
strength” by filling the Chairs for important
committees and membership drive for the OCMA. Senior
members should step forward and provide the
mentorship for new Circulators and those who wish to
excel into the future.
I thank you for
the opportunity to serve you as your President for
2010 and I look forward to gaining your commitment
for the future of the OCMA.
Regards and Warm
Wishes,
Daniel J. Lias
2010 OCMA President
